This scheme has endedBellway withdrew its shareholder home discount on 1 August 2018. The last day to reserve a home using it was 31 July 2018.
History of the perk
Bellway announced the withdrawal in its 2017 annual report. It gave a last reservation date but no reason.
-
Discount withdrawn
The 2017 report set 31 July 2018 as the last day to reserve a home with the discount and withdrew it from the next day.
-
Proof required for nominee holdings
The annual report added a sentence requiring nominee holders to prove ownership. The discount and 12-month holding rule were unchanged from 2010.
-
Earlier terms documented
The annual report set out the terms: £2,000 off each £25,000 of a new home’s price, a proportionate discount on any remainder, and at least 2,000 shares held for 12 months before reserving. The scheme was already running, so this is not its launch date.
What shareholders got
Shareholders received 8% off a new Bellway home.
How the amount worked
Bellway took £2,000 off each £25,000 of the purchase price, with a proportionate discount on any remainder. That is 8% off the whole price.

Shares held through a broker

Practical notes
Reservation date, not completion date
Bellway set a last reservation date. Its withdrawal notice gave no separate deadline for completing a purchase already reserved under the scheme.
Other offers and group brands
The terms named a new Bellway home. They did not say whether other group brands counted, or whether the discount could be combined with other sales incentives.
