Lord’s (MCC)
Lord’s debentures 2027–2030
Marylebone Cricket Club owns Lord’s cricket ground in St John’s Wood, London, and remains the custodian of the Laws of Cricket. Debenture holders lend money to the Club in return for ticket-buying rights and match-day facilities.
Offer announcedApplications are open for the 2027–2030 seasons and close on 31 March 2027, or earlier if MCC decides.
What you get
Lord’s debentures cost £4,000 to £19,000 for the right to buy tickets for a designated seat during the 2027–2030 seasons, plus free entry on selected other days. Match tickets cost extra at face value. Most of the subscription is a 75-year, interest-free loan, scheduled for repayment in 2101.
Each debenture gives its holder the right to buy one face-value ticket for a designated seat on the main match days defined in the offer as Debenture Match Days. MCC also chooses free-entry days, called Other Match Days. A debenture does not make you an MCC member.
Which matches count
The main match days cover defined Tests, one-day internationals, international T20s, The Hundred, Middlesex T20 Blast and further MCC designations. One-day and international T20 categories exclude exhibition matches and ICC World Cup, Champions Trophy and ICC T20 matches. Tests exclude exhibitions but may include an ICC World Test Championship Final. MCC promises no particular match count, touring team or programme.
Free-entry days use different areas
On free-entry days, the debenture seating areas are closed. The pass admits holders to the Members’ Friends’ Enclosures and the Pavilion, subject to dress rules. MCC can change which days qualify. Its examples include final or reserve Test days, Middlesex fixtures other than T20 Blast, MCC matches, and the Club and Village competition finals.
Restaurant reservations depend on the scheme
Grand Stand Bronze includes bar access but no restaurant reservation. The other four schemes include reservations after holders buy that day’s match ticket and notify MCC. The benefit covers a reservation; ask MCC for catering prices and arrangements. Bar access remains subject to capacity and licensing restrictions.
Seats and facilities can change
MCC assigns a designated seat to each debenture. It can relocate holders within the debenture seating areas, including another stand, for operational, safety or other reasons in the terms. It can also change restaurant or bar allocations; those changes do not create a right to compensation.
Tickets cannot be resold
An individual holding several debentures may give their additional tickets to guests without payment, subject to the terms. Corporate holders may provide tickets without payment to their employees, officers or guests. These exceptions do not permit ticket resale.
Other fixtures may have a booking window
Other cricket matches at Lord’s, called Additional Matches in the offer, can carry a preferential window to buy one face-value ticket per debenture when MCC controls allocation and the relevant stand opens. Non-cricket events are outside this category. Holders must act within MCC’s announced window.
What it takes
You need at least one debenture.
MCC allocates debentures at its discretion. Priority runs from holders of the eligible earlier MCC debenture issues listed in the offer to Full Members, Associate Members, Candidates and Affiliates, then other applicants. Membership is not required.
The initial application limit is eight debentures, or twelve for Grand Stand Bronze; MCC may increase the limits.
Before buyingA debenture records a loan to Marylebone Cricket Club. The loan is unsecured and pays no interest. You may not get it back if the issuer cannot repay. The premium and VAT are not repaid. Transfers are limited to the exceptions in the issuer’s terms. The benefit rights end before the loan’s scheduled repayment date. Read about the risks.
The debenture
- Instrument
- 75-year unsecured, interest-free debenture
- Issuer
- Marylebone Cricket Club
- Repayment due
- 1 November 2101
- Repayment terms
- MCC can repay the nominal amount early at its discretion, or on a resolution to dissolve the Club. An unclaimed repayment can be extinguished six years after it becomes payable. If a claim reaches MCC before then, or MCC knows of a genuine entitlement dispute, that period pauses until resolution or withdrawal.
- Transfers
- Individuals cannot sell or transfer a debenture during their lifetime. On death, it may pass through their estate to the entitled beneficiary. MCC may also recognise a corporate successor after a genuine business sale or reorganisation; that exception cannot be used to trade debentures.

How to get one
- From the issuer
- Apply directly through MCC. The five prices include the loan, non-repayable premium and VAT. Pay in full or use the stated instalments. Follow MCC’s payment instructions after acceptance. MCC may notify a different second-instalment date in writing, and a VAT-rate change may change that payment. Applications close .
Other conditions
- Residency restrictions
- MCC will not accept a transaction where the offer is unlawful in the applicant’s jurisdiction. The document asks overseas applicants to observe their local restrictions; it does not establish a country-by-country eligibility list.
How to claim
MCC’s register is the definitive ownership record. Certificates are electronic. The offer document describes a Debenture pass for free-entry days but does not specify how match tickets or passes will be delivered.
- 1. Start with MCC’s Premium Seating TeamRead the full offer and contact the team about the schemes and application process. You do not need to be an MCC member to apply; eligible existing holders and members get priority.
- 2. Complete the retail application checksEligible retail investors can apply. You declare your investor category and complete MCC’s assessment of whether you understand the offer. MCC gives you a personalised risk warning; you confirm that you wish to proceed and wait through the required 24-hour cooling-off period before receiving the application form.
- 3. Apply through MCC’s electronic platformSubmit the form by 31 March 2027, unless MCC closes earlier. Applications can remain open after the 24 February ticket deadline, so ask which 2027 tickets remain available if applying late. Submission is normally irrevocable unless MCC consents or the terms provide an exception. If you apply for two or more debentures but receive only one, you are not bound to proceed: reply in writing within seven days of MCC’s letter if you want to accept it.
- 4. Pay the subscriptionPay in full or choose the two-instalment option. An accepted application commits you to the full price. Missing an instalment can suspend or end ticket rights and leave the unpaid amount recoverable.
- 5. Choose and pay for each season’s ticketsMCC sends the 2027 invitation by 1 February, then by 10 January in later seasons, unless it sets a later date. Request tickets by 24 February 2027, then 3 February in later seasons, or MCC’s later deadline. If you miss it, MCC may sell the ticket without paying you the proceeds. For schemes with restaurant rights, request reservations by 24 February before each season.
- 6. Keep your holder details currentTell the Premium Seating Team about address changes and check the match, entry and dress instructions before attending.

Practical notes
Renewal requires another payment
Keeping ticket rights under a future scheme requires a new payment while this 75-year loan remains outstanding.
If access is disrupted
Events outside MCC’s control can remove its obligation to compensate holders for disrupted access under the terms. Refunds for purchased match tickets follow the ticket-sale conditions.
Company story
A ground that keeps changing
MCC was founded in 1787 and moved to its present St John’s Wood ground in 1814. Thomas Lord later sold the ground for £5,400; his name stayed. The Club’s red and yellow colours came later, replacing its original sky blue. MCC’s own history admits that their origin remains uncertain.
Leisure Opportunities reported in 2006 that a new debenture issue would help fund three combined scoreboards and replay screens, alongside work on the Mound Stand. The current offer describes another change: the Allen Stand’s replacement is scheduled to open in full before the men’s Australia Test in 2027.
