Greggs sells sausage rolls, savoury bakes, sandwiches, sweet treats and drinks across the UK.

What we found

Greggs’s shareholder FAQ and 2025 annual report describe no shop discount, voucher book or discount card for shareholders. Its app gives customers rewards, and you need no shares to use it.

The annual report does describe lunch for those who attend the annual general meeting (AGM).

Lunch with the directors

Chair Matt Davies invited shareholders to the 13 May 2026 AGM in Newcastle and promised lunch featuring classic Greggs products and new ones to try. The report also describes directors mixing with attendees over lunch.

That meeting has passed. Lunch is hospitality for people who attend, not a discount you can use in a shop, so we do not count it as a shareholder perk.

Customer rewards need no shares

The Greggs App gives new accounts a free hot or iced drink. Eligible purchases earn stamps: nine in one category earn a free item from that category. Account holders also get a sweet treat for their birthday. Product and shop exclusions apply, and rewards expire.

None of this needs Greggs shares.

The staff discount is for staff

Greggs’s careers site advertises up to 50% off favourite products for employees and a family member, along with employee share plans. Both are employee benefits. Owning Greggs shares alone does not qualify you for the staff discount.

Company story

Customers and staff first

Ian Gregg put customers and staff first, according to Newcastle University’s citation for his honorary degree. The citation called their interests “more important than the shareholders”, adding that the approach “has served the shareholders very well too”. It described sharing 10% of profit with staff as a feature of the business “right from the start”.

Stormzy’s black card

In February 2020, The Grocer reported that rapper Stormzy had become the first member of Greggs Concierge. He displayed his new black card on Twitter, writing, “I have peaked”. Greggs also sent him a pair of branded slippers.

Greggs would not say what the card offered. Its announcement said “no amount of Steak Bakes or Vegan Sausage Rolls can buy you membership”, and a spokeswoman told the magazine the card was strictly by invitation to some of its biggest fans.
